Ewa Krepsztul is a Catholic Artist and Illustrator. Born in the city of Poznan, Poland, she spent her childhood summers in her grandparents’ village. There, from her earliest years, she was surrounded by the natural beauty of the nearby fields, the overwhelming fragrance of wildflowers, and the taste of the ripest berries picked in the forest. There, little Ewa spent her peaceful afternoons, painting her first pictures that reflected the beauty of the world around her.

After graduation from the Fine Arts High School, Ewa began the Science of Culture studies at Adam Mickiewicz University. She arrived in the United States in 1996, where she completed her studies in Graphic Design. In 1999 she began her career as a Graphic Artist, working for several American corporations including IBM.

Over the next twenty years, Ewa was very fortunate to work on exceptional projects, developing numerous marketing campaigns for medical companies, private schools, churches, and nonprofit charitable organizations. She has also designed many book covers and layouts for spirituality books, historical novels, educational materials, and illustrated children’s books. She has worked with a variety of publishers, from In the Arms of Mary Foundation to Wiley Publishing House.

In recent years, however, despite the contentment in the career, an increasingly strong desire to work for a completely different employer, began to emerge in Ewa’s heart.

One day the words “I want to work for God” rang out. Soon after, Ewa decided to leave her Art Director job, to devote herself entirely to painting and thus to return to herself, enchanted by the beauty of creation and, above all, by the One who created it. The words of Pope John Paul II, who described the gift of the artist in the most profound way, rang louder and louder in Ewa’s heart: “Artists, the more conscious they are of their “gift”, are led all the more to see themselves and the whole of creation with eyes able to contemplate and give thanks, and to raise to God a hymn of praise. This is the only way for them to come to a full understanding of themselves, their vocation, and their mission.”

In less than two years, Ewa has painted more than 50 paintings, including 25 icons, primarily in the technique of egg tempera and watercolor. Her paintings, similar to icons, contain many symbols and are often referring to spiritual life. They encourage one to pause and reflect. They are the moments in a journey written down on a canvas or board with the help of a brush.

In her work, Ewa tries to reach the area of the mystery of human destiny, an area filled with the relationship between man and God. It is in this relationship that Ewa finds the joy of creation and it has become her mission to proclaim God’s beauty through works of art as His little brush.

Ewa works from her home studio in Redding, Connecticut, where she lives with her beloved husband Paul, candle maker, gilder, and her best friend.
