Ewa Krepsztul is a Catholic artist and illustrator. Born in the city of Poznań, Poland, she spent her childhood summers in her grandparents’ village, surrounded by the gentle rhythm of the countryside—the fragrance of wildflowers, the vastness of nearby fields, and the sweetness of berries gathered in the forest. There, in those quiet afternoons, she began to paint her first pictures, reflecting the beauty of the world around her.
After completing her early art education, Ewa pursued studies in Cultural Science at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. In 1996 she moved to the United States, where she continued her artistic development and completed her studies in Graphic Design. She began her career as a graphic artist, working for several American corporations, including IBM.
Over the next two decades, Ewa was blessed to work on a wide range of creative projects—developing marketing campaigns for medical companies, private schools, churches, and nonprofit charitable organizations. She also designed book covers and layouts for spiritual works, historical novels, educational materials, and illustrated children’s books, collaborating with publishers such as In the Arms of Mary Foundation and Wiley Publishing.
In recent years, however, a different call began to grow within her heart—an ever-deepening desire to dedicate her art entirely to God. One day, the words “I want to work for God” resounded clearly within her. Soon after, Ewa left her position as an Art Director to devote herself fully to painting—to return to her truest self, enchanted once again by the beauty of creation and, above all, by the Creator Himself.
The words of Pope John Paul II became a guiding light for her vocation: “Artists, the more conscious they are of their gift, are led all the more to see themselves and the whole of creation with eyes able to contemplate and give thanks, and to raise to God a hymn of praise.”
Since then, Ewa has devoted herself entirely to sacred art. Working primarily in the traditional technique of egg tempera and watercolor, she creates icons and symbolic paintings that invite contemplation and prayer. Her works—rooted in the language of faith and silence—become meditations on the mystery of God’s presence in the human heart. Each image is a quiet encounter, a moment of prayer captured in color and light.
In her art, Ewa seeks to touch the mystery of the human vocation—the meeting place between God and man. It is within this relationship that she finds the true joy of creation, and it has become her mission to proclaim the beauty of God through art, as His little brush.
Ewa has two grown children and lives in Redding, Connecticut, with her beloved husband, Paul, who, in his free time, helps her with her icons, preparing the wood, gilding them, and making beeswax candles—and who, above all, is her best friend.
