Saint John Mary Vianney Icon

The icon depicts Saint John Mary Vianney, a French priest known as the Curé of Ars, written by Ewa Krepsztul in egg tempera method.

The saint is shown facing forward against a light golden-beige background. He has a delicate face, large eyes, a high forehead, and wavy grey hair that reaches his ears and neck. His expression is calm, gentle, and thoughtful.

He wears white priestly vestments with an ornate golden-yellow stole decorated with intricate patterns.

He holds a rosary with dark beads, his deep devotion to the Virgin Mary.

The colours are warm and harmonious, with white, gold, beige, and grey dominating the image. The carefully painted details and soft shading give the saint a peaceful and gentle appearance.

The icon presents Saint John Mary Vianney as a humble and devoted priest. His calm expression, white vestments, and rosary reflect his deep faith, piety, and dedication to serving God and helping others. The overall composition creates a peaceful, prayerful atmosphere.

It is created on a Linden wood board, on which a cloth was placed.  This cloth is a memorial of St. Veronica’s veil which reflected the face of Jesus on the way to Calvary. The board was primed with twelve layers of gesso symbolizing the twelve Apostles. The icon was written using natural dry pigments mixed with white wine, water, and egg yolk and then refined with 24-carat gold, a symbol of the presence of God.

This icon can be an exceptional gift for those seeking solace, protection, or spiritual guidance. Its profound beauty and symbolism make it a cherished keepsake, offering comfort and a sense of divine presence to those who turn to the Blessed Mother in times of need.
